Garden Party

Could we come to an agreement
I truly wanted to know.
However sparse this garden party
Hoping more would come to show

The wars were still quite fertile
While bankers tallied with glee
Lives destroyed deemed collateral
The future plain to see

But this was no celebration
Of what would come to be
Children had no future
No river to the sea

Blind allegiance brings heavy consequence
For all who claim they care
Foundations continued growth in darkness
And humanity folds in prayer.

The men have all departed
Took women and children too
With death comes new beginnings
A sense of hope and life anew
