The Fragility of Science

The Fragility of Science

I’m broken. Well beyond a wounded heart.

A master of nothing. So far below.

Yet I pretend to conquer.

Convince others of my value. My exceptionalism.

It’s all untrue. They know. Yet, I still hope.

Did you ever wish for secret powers as a child?

Do you still?

I speak to someone. No response. Yet.

Patience. My time will come. Late bloomer.

My father believed. He too was a dreamer.

He still found peace. Happiness.

Although never apparent. To Mother.

He spoke with Angels. Every day.

I am not so blessed. Unreturned calls. Silence.

Science cannot help. Analysis without conclusion.

Answers elusive. Medicine. More medicine.

No magic. No change. No faith.

The search continues. A taxing journey.

I long to hope. The late bloomer.

Daddy smiles. Then back to sleep. With his angels.

Back to science.
